Grote Markt

Haarlem has a beautiful old church (construction: 1370 - 1520) and built all around it is a central square, called 'Grote Markt'. It is the heart of the city. On Saturdays you will find a lively and tasteful market here. 

 

Surrounding the church you will find nice cafes, bars and good restaurants. Also, there are some very nice artisan shops built in the church on one side.

 

The streets flowing from the church, are called 'the Golden Streets'. They are very picturesque and quaint.
